Daughter #2

Lindsay is one sweet daughter. For her parents last year, she not only got them a photo shoot for Christmas of their beloved Westie named Addie, she had me do the photo shoot on the “sly” while her parents were out of town. They were completely surprised when Lindsay was finally able to tell them about the incredibly sneaky feat she pulled off during one of their vacations! As you’ll see in the photos, Lindsay is a stunning young lady. Pair that with the unbelievable cuteness of Addie, and you have some really lovely photos. They sure made taking pretty pictures easy!

Now, let me tell you more about Addie.  Since Lindsay is grown up and out on her own, Addie has sort of become “Daughter #2.” So much so that her name is a family name! This West Highland White Terrier is the apple of her parent’s eyes. They are TOTALLY head over heels in love with this dog, and she is one of the luckiest pooches I know.  Addie loves to snuggle, play with plastic water bottles, and is hysterically funny  to watch when she plays with a treat. I would say she calls the shots around her house, but I think her parents like it that way:)

Thank you to Lindsay, Jim, & Maryanne for being SUCH wonderful clients. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know you, and of course, am just as blown away by Addie as you are!

From The Constant To The Big Brown Dog

Job descriptions change. Friends change. Children grow. Grandchildren are born. People get married. Family members pass away. Like many others, this was Cathy’s life. But throughout all the changes in her life, for many years there was a constant. That constant was her black Labrador Sebastian. Sebastian was not only the loving and loyal family dog, but he was the neighborhood mascot. Cathy lives on a golf course, so Sebastian (often referred to as “Sebby”) would roam the course as if he were on staff! Everyone new Sebby, called him by name, and gave him goodies when he would come their way. After many years of a wonderful life, Sebby’s body gave way to the cancer that had attacked him. Fittingly, he is buried on the same golf course where he used to spend many of his glorious days.

Cathy knew that Sebby could never be “replaced,” and had no plans to add another dog to her life. The thought of any dog besides Sebastian sleeping on her bed was too much to bear. Then…word spread that there was a litter of labs that needed homes. Cathy’s son adopted one of the dogs (now named Fisher), so Cathy decided it was time to bring the unconditional dog love back into her life. She adopted Fisher’s brother, and named him Bogey as a reference to her love for golf.

Who knew that this dog would turn into one of the BIGGEST labs I have ever seen-he’s more like a big bear than a dog! Bogey’s zest for life is unmistakable. He is funny, sweet, smart, and an expert at stealing food (like entire loaves of bread!) from the kitchen. If you blow up a balloon, you will witness a dog who will jump like crazy to pop it-even while it’s still in your hand! So although Sebby will never be forgotten, Bogey is now Cathy’s number one dog. He has stolen her heart, and she has stolen his:)

One of Bogey’s best pals.

The beautiful and lovely Cathy having fun with her best friend.

Look at that intensity and focus. He was determined to pop that thing!

Oh, and I forgot to mention Bogey’s good pal Tiger, who posed ever so gallantly for a few photos as well.

She’s Got A Way About Her…

Marie. Animals love her-her horses, her chickens, and her dogs. This amazing woman has a HUGE heart, and I’m sure would rescue every animal in the world who needed a home if she could! But until then, she spends her time giving love to her pets, and volunteering with LUV A DOG Rescue & Adoptions. I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Marie’s four dogs who are incredibly lucky to have ended up in her home. (I did meet a couple of Marie’s chickens, too, as I pulled into her driveway!) Enjoy getting to know Lincoln, Mason, Sydney, & Dillon. And if your lucky, maybe someday you’ll get to meet Marie, too!:)

LINCOLN:

Lincoln is an 11 year old English Yellow Lab, but Marie says he doesn’t have an accent:)  This boy is SWEET. I mean sweet. He’s the kind of dog with whom you’d like to lay on the floor and cuddle. When he’s not cuddling, he’s busy fetching Frisbees and tennis balls, and hanging out with his brothers and sisters. Although this boy is named Lincoln after the Land of Lincoln (Illinois) where he was born, he also answers to Bink Bink…or anything that rhymes with Link! According to Marie, Lincoln has no bad habits-he is perfect. I would agree:)

MASON:

Mason is named after Bill Mason,  a famous cat burglar. Apparently in his younger days, Mason used to sneak Marie’s things out of the house without her knowing. Now about 7 years old, Mason is nicknamed Mace, Macer, and Snace. Mason was rescued from the Tippecanoe County Humane Society. He had been a hoarded dog, and was in the shelter for TEN months before Marie rescued him. Now, he is Marie’s running partner-what a happening ending for this boy!

As a side note, Marie told me that Mason was honored that we named our son after him:)

SYDNEY:

Sydney, who is now about 5 years old, celebrates her birthday on October 15th as that is the day she was adopted. In true Miniature Australian Shepherd fashion, this girl would fetch 24/7 if you’d let her! She was hysterical during our shoot, fetching a HUGE ball over, and over, and over, and over…  When she’s not fetching, her other favorite past time is eating (I knew I loved this girl for a reason!) Sydney truly embraces life with vigor-as Marie put it, Sydney is a pistol!

DILLON:

What a way to start life. This boy spent the first year of his life locked in a dark barn with little food or water. Thankfully, he was rescued by Marie, along with his two brothers. Marie is still working on getting custody of Dillon’s Mom and Dad. Not surprisingly, Dillon is shy and afraid of strangers. But I feel lucky that slowly but surely he warmed up to me during our photo shoot. He’s trying really hard to trust people, and I give him a TON of credit for even LOOKING at a human after the way he was treated. Dillon’s name came from the show Gunsmoke, and he also responds to Dill Weed, Dill Pickle, and Silly Dilly (love the nickname Dill Pickle!) Good luck to you Dillon-you’ve got a wonderful Mom who will remind you that there actually ARE nice humans in this world.

SqueakDog Pet Photography:A Very Abled 3 Legged Cat

Meet Roman, a very special boy. Roman’s mom Dawn volunteers at the Almost Humane Society in Lafayette, IN. Over 10 years ago, Roman arrived at the shelter from the Purdue Vet School. He had been hit by a car and had to have one of his back legs amputated. Because Dawn is a Special Education Speech/Language Pathologist, she knew right away that this cat had special needs, and she couldn’t resist adopting this boy as her own.

Since that wonderful meeting, Dawn and Roman have been inseparable. They have been through all kinds of life changes, and have relied on each other for companionship and support. Roman’s dad calls him “Rom-Bom” and mom calls him her “Big Boy.” According to Dawn, Roman is spoiled rotten:)

Let me tell you this is one cool cat. During our photo shoot, Dawn was having some remodeling done to her home. There were workers in and out of the house, making noise, etc. and Roman just sat there, watching all the action-totally unfazed! I can see how this laid back demeanor coupled with his incredibly sweet personality has captured Dawn’s heart. I think you’ll see in the photos below the special bond these two share. It was a pleasure to meet both Dawn and Roman, and to have the opportunity to capture their wonderful friendship on film.

SqueakDog Pet Photography: The Little O

Meet Oscar, a.k.a. The Little O. He’s the first Tibetan Terrier I’ve had the pleasure of photographing, and he is quite a charmer! At the time of our shoot, Oscar was only 8 months old. He was FULL of energy and was ready to play. Besides playing, Oscar loves to fetch, to go for walks, and chew sticks (as you’ll notice in two of the pictures). Oscar also likes to steal rolls of toilet paper-a sneaky little trick that I’ve seen a lot of puppies play on their owners. His best friends are his Mom and Dad and his toy duck.  You have to love Oscar’s beautiful fur. The day of our shoot ended up being a windy one, so I don’t know how happy Oscar was with his hair that day, but I think the “wind blown” gives him a lot of character. I hope you enjoy the pictures of this sweet boy who certainly has a zest for life!
